Over the past year, I've been in many situations where I needed to ensure that my iPhone and iPad never ran out of juice. Whether it's a trip to Disney, walking around Tokyo, long car rides, or many other adventures, mid-day top-ups are a survival tactic, not a luxury.

It's a top priority when traveling with electronics (and who doesn't travel with electronics today?) to make sure your devices are always charged. Fortunately, power banks are the perfect solution, as they'll top-up your device on the go, and quickly.

When searching for a power bank, you'll need to consider its capacity, charging capabilities, and size. Here are some of my favorites, based on great reviews and my own real-world use. (And yes, I proudly own four of these myself!)

Anker PowerCore 10K

The Anker PowerCore 10K is the power bank I personally owned for awhile (though I recently upgraded — more on that below). I can get two full iPhone charges from it, which I really needed during my trip to Disney. The Anker PowerCore is lightweight and compact, and has withstood many falls under my care.

Anker Zolo Power Bank 30W

You'll never have to worry about forgetting your cord thanks to the Anker Zolo Power Bank's built-in USB-C cable. With its 30W max output, you can get about a 50% charge on your iPhone in just 27 minutes, and the Anker itself will fully recharge in just 2.5 hours.

This is the power bank I just upgraded to after switching to an iPhone with a USB-C port. Not having to carry an extra cable is a game changer, even if this one is a bit bulkier than the Anker PowerCore 10K above.

The Zolo is a sleek-looking power bank that comes in four different colors. With two additional bi-directional ports, you can charge up to three devices at once. And with the digital display, you'll always know how much juice you have left.

While I have the Zolo with 10,000mAH power, my husband prefers the 20,000mAH option since he often has long business travel days. The Zolo 10k provides double the capacity, but it's almost twice as heavy to carry around.

Anker Nano Power Bank with Built-in USB-C Connector

If you want something slightly smaller and more discreet to charge your phone, the Anker Nano Power Bank with Built-in USB-C Connector is a great option to have in your bag. With a USB-C design and 5,000mAh of power, it can charge all the newer phones, including the latest iPhone models.

While this power bank is compact and ideal if you need a quick boost, its charge won’t last as long as many others on this list. So keep that in mind if you have a long day ahead.

But when I know I'm not going to be out and about all day, this is my go-to lightweight option.

Anker Power Bank 20,000mAh

With a built-in USB-C cable, you can replenish your iPhone's battery up to four times on a single charge with the Anker Power Bank 20,000mAh. And since it has multiple ports, it can also charge more than one device at a time, distributing up to a whopping 87W.

Since you typically need 65W or more to charge a laptop, this is the perfect power bank for your computer or tablet while on the go. And it might be my next power bank purchase, as I’ve had one too many moments lately when my laptop died with no outlets in sight.

Anker MagGo Power Bank

Charge your iPhone (series 12 and newer) magnetically with the Anker MagGo Power Bank, and even a second device with a USB-C port. With a smart display built right into the power bank, you can view the battery level, remaining usage time, and full recharge time right at a glance.

Charging times are ultra-fast with the Anker Prime Power Bank, which can even charge a MacBook Pro to 50% in just 32 minutes. This small but mighty charger offers a foldable built-in AC plug, two output ports and 65W output. And with its dual-function charger, it also serves as a wall charger.

Q 10,000mAh Power Bank

With three integrated Lightning cables, you aren't limited to your device's port type with the incredibly popular Q 10000mAh Power Bank. Thanks to its slim makeup, you can throw this power bank into your pocket or bag and charge your device anytime throughout the day.

The Q 10000mAh can also be charged directly in the wall with its built-in AC wall plug, which means no extra wires are necessary.

Charmast Portable Charger

If you want to ensure you can charge almost any device, the Charmast Portable Charger will serve you well. With four built-in cables that also tuck in at the bottom, there are no wires dangling around. And with 10,000mAh power, you'll be able to charge your phone twice when this charger is full.

One of the few complaints about this power bank is that it can take longer to charge than other units. But, as one of the least expensive options of the bunch, it's a great buy. Plus, the charger is incredibly slim, weighing only 0.55lbs.
