A new way to track luggage with the EPICKA Tagie Mini Strap Finder

Bluetooth trackers have become one of the easiest ways to add peace of mind when you travel. From keeping tabs on checked luggage and backpacks to finding your wallet and car keys, these small devices make it much easier to locate misplaced items quickly.

We’ve previously covered products like the Apple AirTag, Tile Mate, and Knog Scout Travel, but there’s a new tracker entering the market: the EPICKA Tagie Mini Strap Finder. While it shares many of the same core features as other popular Bluetooth trackers, it has a slightly different design with a built-in strap that makes it even easier to attach to your belongings.

Here's a closer look at how the Tagie Mini Strap Finder works and how it compares to other Bluetooth trackers.

Like most Bluetooth tracking devices, the Tagie Mini Strap Finder syncs with your iPhone using Bluetooth technology. Once paired, you can track it through Apple’s Find My network, which can often locate a missing item even when it’s far away. And when the device is within Bluetooth range, you can trigger the tracker to play a sound, making it even easier to locate a misplaced item.

The built-in silicone strap is a key feature, allowing you to quickly loop the tracker around your travel gear right out of the box — no separate key ring or holder required. The tracker also uses a replaceable coin-cell battery that’s built to last for up to two years. And with its waterproof design, you don’t have to worry about it getting caught in the rain while sitting on the tarmac waiting to be loaded onto the plane.

I found the Tagie incredibly easy to use and had it synced with my phone in just a few minutes. The directions were clear, the tracking was spot on, and the alert sound was loud enough to hear from another room. In fact, I’ve been using the Tagie on my car keys to make them easier to find when misplaced (which happens more than I’d like to admit).

We’ve tested many travel tracking devices here at Points Path, and while we’ve actually been fans of all of them, they all have their pros and cons. So how does the EPICKA Tagie Mini Strap Finder compare with many of the other popular devices on the market?

While the Tagie doesn’t include some of the premium features found on the Apple AirTag, such as Apple’s Precision Finding, there are some advantages, such as the cost and built-in attachment strap.

One of the best features of the Tagie is that you don’t need to purchase a separate holder before attaching it to your gear. With the Apple AirTag, unless you want to drop it in a pocket, you need to purchase a key ring, luggage loop, bracelet, etc. for it to attach to your gear. And these extra accessories also come with an extra cost.

The Tagie also costs about half as much as an AirTag. Full price, the AirTag costs $99 for a four-pack, while a four-pack of Tagies costs $50. However, right now, the Tagie is on sale, bringing the price down to less than $10 per tag — quite a steal compared to a single AirTag.

If you have an Android device, Tile Mate is your best option, as the Tagie is for Apple users utilizing Apple’s Find My network. And while the Tile can work for both types of users, its network isn’t as strong as Apple’s Find My network, which makes the Tagie the better bet for locating lost luggage in public spaces.

From a price standpoint, the Tagie is significantly less expensive. And while the Tile Mate doesn’t require a subscription, if you want to utilize all of the features, you’ll be paying a yearly premium.

The Tagie and Knog Scout Travel offer some of the same benefits: Both can be secured to your luggage without any extra accessories needed. However, the Scout Travel comes with an anti-tamper bolt and two braided steel cables of different lengths. This makes the Scout Travel more secure, but swapping it from one bag to another isn’t very easy. You need to use the included key tool to remove the wire cord, and if you lose the tool, that’s an issue.

The Scout also offers a built-in motion alarm and rechargeable USB-C battery. While these are two nice-to-have features that aren’t prevalent with the Tagie, they aren’t a necessity for my travel needs — especially at a much higher price of about $65 each.
