Amazon's biggest summer shopping event, Prime Day, returns next week on June 23rd through June 26th, 2026.

Similar to previous years, not every item will see a deep price cut, but it’s still a great opportunity to save on travel essentials you've had your eye on.

Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s Prime Day, including tips for finding the lowest prices and a look at early deals you can shop now. And if you’re not already an Amazon Prime member — which is needed to snag some deals — you can sign up for a free 30-day trial and get access to all the deals in time for the big summer event.

Early Prime Day deals

Even though Prime Day isn't happening until next week, Amazon has already launched some early deals, especially on its own Amazon devices, and new discounts are appearing daily. Some of our favorite travel products are also already on sale.

Apple AirPods Pro 3

Sale price: $179; Regular price: $249

If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to pick up a pair of Apple AirPods, specifically the Apple AirPods Pro 3, now is an excellent opportunity — as they are the lowest price we've seen to date.

They're the latest addition to Apple's AirPods lineup, with a stronger noise cancellation capability, longer battery life, integrated heart rate sensing, and a smaller design with foam-infused tips for better sealing. They're a game-changer for travelers, allowing you to enjoy peace and quiet on your next flight, or in a busy airport or subway.

You’ll get up to eight hours of listening time with ANC turned on in a single charge, and the included wireless charging case extends that to 24 hours total. The AirPods are also dust, sweat, and water resistant, and with the Find My app, you can track their location if you lose them.

With up to 24 hours of battery life and a lightweight design with a carrying lanyard, it's easy to pack and use throughout a long day of travel or adventure.

Stack your savings

In addition to discounted pricing, there are a few ways to save even more during Prime Day simply by using the right credit card.

Using your credit card points

Many credit card rewards programs offer special savings at Amazon when you apply just a single point to your purchase.

While we usually recommend saving your points for better-value travel redemptions, it's worth using a point (or a few, if required) to pay at Amazon when these deals come around just to reap the savings.

These offers are typically targeted, but there are several available right now that could save you money at Amazon in the lead-up to Prime Day, if you're eligible.

Currently, folks with an American Express card that earns Membership Rewards points can save as much as 40% off their Amazon purchases, up to a maximum of $40 off.

Not everyone will get the same offer, and some people might not see any offer at all. You can check your personal offer by clicking here.

Additionally, we're seeing that some cardmembers are receiving a 30% discount when paying with Blue Cash Reward Dollars (up to $30 off).

To learn more about how these discounts work, make sure to read our guide on how to save money at Amazon using your credit card points.

Use the Amazon Prime Visa

Having an Amazon credit card can also save you money. The Prime Visa gets you 5% back on Amazon.com purchases with an eligible Prime membership, and it's currently offering a $200 Amazon gift card as a sign-up bonus to new applicants.

You'll be able to use the card through your Amazon account immediately after getting approved, so you don't have to worry about it arriving in time for next week's sale event.

Amex Offers

American Express has a program called Amex Offers, which is a valuable way to save money or earn extra points by activating targeted deals directly from your Amex account.

Just log into the Amex website or mobile app, add an offer to your card, meet the spending requirement for it, and you’ll receive either a statement credit or Membership Rewards points, depending on the promotion.

Right now, there’s a targeted Amex Offer that earns 1,200 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $150 at Amazon. Even better, you can do it up to three times and earn up to 3,600 points in total.

And since this offer doesn't expire until July 19th, 2026, it's perfectly positioned for your upcoming Prime Day purchase.

Check historical pricing

While pricing is typically competitive during Prime Day, you might find that a product isn't actually being sold at the lowest price of the year.

To check the price history of a product, I use the website CamelCamelCamel. Just plug in a product name or Amazon URL, and you'll see the pricing for it over the past year, including the lowest ever price, the current price, and the average price.

Check Lightning Deals

Throughout the four-day sale, Amazon will also roll out thousands of Lightning Deals, which are limited-time offers that are available for only a few hours or until inventory sells out.

These flash sales can be one of the best ways to score deep discounts on travel essentials like luggage, packing cubes, portable chargers, travel adapters, headphones, and more. Since new Lightning Deals launch throughout the day and the best ones often sell out quickly, it’s worth checking Amazon’s Lightning Deals page regularly during Prime Day to catch the biggest savings before they’re gone.

How I’m shopping Prime Day this year

With Prime Day almost a week away, I'm keeping an eye on a handful of travel items that haven't gone on sale yet and hoping to see deeper discounts once the event officially begins.

As always, we’ll be scouring Amazon during Prime Day to find the best deals on travel gear, and we'll share the standout finds that you won’t want to miss.
