Amazon is celebrating the tenth anniversary of Prime Day by making this year’s event bigger than ever. What’s usually a two-day sale will now stretch across four full days in 2025, starting at midnight Pacific time on July 8th and running through the end of July 11th.
Along with Black Friday, Prime Day is one of my favorite times to score some of the best deals Amazon offers all year. While not every item sees a steep discount, it’s a great opportunity to grab travel essentials you've had your eye on.
Here's everything you need to know about this year’s extended Prime Day event, including tips for finding the best prices, and a few early Prime Day deals that are already live. And if you’re not an Amazon Prime member yet, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial and get access to all the deals in time for the big event.
Even though Prime Day is still a few weeks away, Amazon has already launched some early deals, especially on its own Amazon devices, and new discounts are appearing daily. Some of our favorite travel products are also already on sale.

If you're looking to purchase a tablet, this is a great time to snag the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus Tablet.
With 32GB and 13 hours of battery life, this handheld is perfect for those on the go. You can stream or download your favorite movies or TV shows — or even connect to social media — while on the road. And if you have kids, you can subscribe to Amazon Kids+ for kid-friendly books, games, and apps.

The Beats Studio Buds are a great option when it comes to earbuds, especially since they can hold up to 8 hours of listening time (or up to 24 hours when combined with a pocket-sized charging case). And with their noise-canceling capability, you can tune out the sound of the plane's engines while enjoying your favorite movie.

When you’re traveling internationally, a travel adapter is a necessity, and having one adapter that works in over 150 countries is ideal. With the EPICKA Universal Travel Adapter, you can charge up to six devices simultaneously, with access to one USB-C port, four USB-A ports, and one A/C socket.
And if you're looking for general early Prime Day deals outside of travel, other offers include $30 off Amazon Fresh orders, $10 off FSA items, and up to 50% off all fashion.
In addition to discounted pricing, there are a few ways to save even more during Amazon Prime Day simply by using the right credit card.
Many credit card rewards programs offer special savings at Amazon when you apply just a single point to your purchase.
While we usually recommend saving your points for better value travel redemptions, it's worth using a point (or a few, if required) to pay at Amazon when these deals come around just to reap the savings.
These offers are typically targeted, but there are several available right now that could save you money at Amazon in the lead-up to Prime Day, and I expect more are likely to roll out soon.
Currently, folks with an American Express card that earns Membership Rewards points can save as much as 50% off their Amazon purchases, up to a maximum of $80 off.
Not everyone will get the same offer, and some people might not see any offer at all. You can check your personal offer by clicking here.
While my own offer only provided $15 in savings, our Points Path founder, Julian, was lucky enough to get up to $80 off.
Discover card holders also have access to a similar offer right now, as well as people with Amex cards that earn Rewards Dollars. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Chase will soon join the party as well.
To learn more about how these discounts work, make sure to read our guide on how to save money at Amazon using your credit card points.
American Express has a program called Amex Offers, which is a valuable way to save money or earn extra points by activating targeted deals directly from your Amex account.
Just log into the Amex website or mobile app, add an offer to your card, meet the spending requirement for it, and you’ll receive either a statement credit or Membership Rewards points, depending on the promotion.
Right now, there’s a targeted Amex Offer that earns 1,200 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $150 at Amazon. Even better, you can do it up to three times and earn up to 3,600 points in total.
The bad news is this offer expires on June 25th, so while it won’t apply to your Prime Day purchases, it’s perfect for saving on early Prime Day deals.
And, since Amazon is a frequent Amex Offers partner, there's a good chance we'll see a new Amazon Amex Offer pop up during Prime Day.
While pricing is typically competitive during Prime Day, you might find that a product isn't actually being sold at the lowest price of the year.
To check the price history of a product, I use the website CamelCamelCamel. Just plug in a product name or Amazon URL, and you'll see the pricing for it over the past year, including the lowest ever price, the current price, and the average price.
With Amazon Prime Day just over two weeks away now, I’m looking forward to finally picking up a few travel items that have been sitting on my wish list. And with the event running a full 96 hours this year, I'm excited that there will be plenty of time to browse, compare, and buy without the usual rush.
As always, we’ll be scouring Amazon during Prime Day to find the best deals on travel gear, and we'll share the standout finds that you won’t want to miss.
