While Atmos Rewards status still tempts me, I’ve mostly retired from the elite-status hamster wheel. These days, I’ll only chase airline status when the math is undeniably good.
And sometimes, the math really is too good to ignore.
Last year was a perfect example. We saw massive opportunities from carriers like Etihad and Turkish Airlines, which sent flyers scrambling to hit specific destinations for the chance at millions of bonus miles.
But the most exciting challenge of the year was undoubtedly JetBlue’s 25th Anniversary Challenge.
JetBlue threw down the gauntlet: Fly to 25 unique destinations from June 25 through December 31, 2025, to earn 25 years of Mosaic status and up to 350,000 bonus points. It was the kind of chaotic, high-stakes promotion we haven’t seen in a long time.
A close friend of mine went for it, then hit a wall after 18 cities. He was staring at a map, spending hours trying to connect dots between random airports like Worcester, Massachusetts, and Ponce, Puerto Rico.
That’s when we brought in AI. In under an hour, we mapped out his final segments, shaved off a few days of flying, and saved him hundreds of dollars.
If another big challenge pops up, or you’re staring down a year-end qualification gap, here’s how you can use AI to build a run that’s realistic, cheaper, and less annoying.

In case you missed it...
Award flights have a flexibility secretMileage runs usually start with one question: Where can I fly nonstop from my airport that helps my goal?
Google Flights is great, but it can be overwhelming when you’re trying to spot overlooked routes fast. A surprisingly effective shortcut is using an airport’s Wikipedia page. Many airport pages have an “Airlines and destinations” section that lists nonstop routes, and it’s often accurate enough to kickstart your planning.
Copy and paste this prompt:
Find nonstop flight options from [AIRPORT] on [AIRLINE]. Use the [AIRPORT] Wikipedia “Airlines and destinations” section to list every nonstop destination [AIRLINE] serves. Group by region, flag seasonal/limited routes, and end with a verify checklist (airline schedule, seasonality, operating days).
When we did this for my friend, ChatGPT reminded us that JetBlue flies nonstop from New York (JFK) to Hartford, Connecticut (BDL) — a very short hop he’d completely overlooked.
This is where most people get stuck. A cheap fare can be a trap if it earns reduced elite credit or doesn’t count toward the metric you need.
Also, “elite-qualifying” and “redeemable” are not the same thing. You might earn a bunch of redeemable miles and still barely move your elite tracker.
One more twist: Some flights earn elite credit based on spending, while others (often partner situations) may lean on distance and fare class rules. If you don’t tell AI which system applies, it’ll guess.

While some airlines like Delta and United are beginning to introduce Bluetooth-enabled inflight entertainment systems, widespread adoption is still years away. That means it's nearly impossible to use your own headphones or earbuds with your plane’s seatback screen. Or is it? We’ve found a simple and affordable gadget that plugs into a standard airplane headphone jack and pairs your wireless headphones effortlessly. Whether you're on a long-haul flight or just a short domestic hop, this device ensures a seamless, wire-free audio experience.

Sometimes the community builds something even better than a general chatbot.
During the JetBlue frenzy, someone built 25for25.ai, a tool designed specifically to optimize routes for that exact challenge. It didn’t just list flights; it also tried to build efficient routing around the rules and the airports you’d already visited.
If you see a new mega-promotion launch, check communities like Reddit or FlyerTalk first. Chances are, someone has already trained an AI model to solve that specific puzzle.
